If you think you’ve got what it takes to sail the dangerous waters of Middle-earth, then be sure to sign up for this event here. Please note that you will need to bring your own deck to this event!

Dream-Chaser Campaign Expansion – Voyage Across Belegaer Scenario

And speaking of sailing the high seas, if you haven’t yet started your voyage through the Dream-chaser campaign, you’ll have the opportunity to try out the campaign’s first scenario at Gen Con as well. Chart your course and set sail through the Voyage Cross Belegaer as you begin the epic tale of the Dream-chaser!

When you’re ready to board your ship and chart your course, be sure to sign up for the event here. Please note that you will need to bring your own deck to this event!

Promos:

Marvel Champions: The Card Game

NeXt Evolution Sneak Preview

Marvel Champions: The Card Game will have a big presence at Gen Con this year, with no less than three different events! The first of these events is a chance to play the first scenario of NeXt Evolution, the sixth campaign expansion for the game and one that will be hitting store shelves just a couple short weeks after Gen Con. In this scenario, Morlock Siege, you and your fellow heroes take on the Marauders and try stop them from wreaking havoc in the Morlock tunnels beneath New York.

If you’re as excited for the next wave of Marvel Champions content as we are, then you won’t want to miss this opportunity to try out the first scenario of NeXt Evolution early! Just make sure you bring your own hero deck, as we will not be providing previews of any new heroes. You can sign up for the event here.

Marvel Champions Campaign Contest Scenario

Toward the end of last year, we hosted a special campaign contest for Marvel Champions, in which fans of the game could mix-and-match scenarios and modular sets from throughout the game’s expansions and use them to create their very own custom campaigns. At Gen Con this year, we’ll be hosting a special opportunity to play a scenario from one of the contest’s winners with other fans of the game. This scenario is the very first one from Awesome Campaign Volume 1, which pits you and your team against the powerful and dangerous Ronan the Accuser. Thankfully, you’ll have some support from the Guardians of the Galaxy and some extra setup rules, making this a scenario a uniquely fun challenge!

You can sign up for this event here. Please note that you will need to bring your own hero deck to this event, and that hero cannot have the Guardian trait. You’ll also need to bring a Basic Guardian ally to aid you in the fight against Ronan.

Marvel Champions Learn-to-Play

        <img src="https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/89/56/8956a61e-0b21-4cf1-aa80-3ca84fa766b3/mcrulesreference_article_box.png" style=""

What if you’ve never played Marvel Champions: The Card Game, and you’re wondering what all the hype is about? Not to worry, we’ve got you covered there as well: the third Marvel Champions event we’ll be hosting is a learn-to-play event geared toward folks who’ve yet to dive into this awesome card game. Take on the villain Rhino, stop him from breaking things and taking things, and learn what kind of hero you want to be.

You can sign up for this event here. Pre-built hero decks will be provided—all you’ll need is the desire to fight crime!

Promos:

If you participate in any of the three Marvel Champions: The Card Game events, you will be awarded with two sets of special alternate-art promo versions of the Energy, Genius, and Strength resource cards. One set will be themed after Spider-Man (Peter Parker), and the other is themed after Captain Marvel!

Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R.

Learn-to-Play

Jumping from our first Marvel game to our most-recent one, anyone who has yet to try out Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R. can take the game for a spin in this learn-to-play event. Choose your hero and race across the globe with your team to complete missions, battle enemies, and face off against the nemesis in a final showdown!

You can sign up for this event here.

Promos:

Anyone who participates in this learn-to-play will walk away with alternate-art versions of the game’s hero sheets!

Twilight Inscription

24-Player Game

Twilight Inscription is a roll-and-write game designed for 1 to 8 players…but what if it was bigger? In this event, we’ll be showcasing some special massive-multiplayer rules for the game that allow up to 24 players to face off at once! With all of the game’s factions in play at the same time, the Twilight Imperium galaxy has never felt this grand.

Be sure to sign up for this 24-player game of Twilight Inscription here.

The release of Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R. is just a few weeks away! As we rapidly approach the game’s release, we’d like to take a moment to share with you all some insights from the game’s designer, Dane Beltrami.

Take it away, Dane!

        <img src="https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/42/9d/429ded27-c9d5-43ae-bc56-66814fa6073e/md01_insight_splash1.png" style=""

Dane Beltrami Shares His Thoughts

Aww jeez, I finally get to talk about D.A.G.G.E.R. Was I working on this game a year ago? Or was it a month? Or was it three years? I don’t know, I firmly believe I’ve been in a bubble. Time isn’t real.

In any case, D.A.G.G.E.R. began with an assignment hitting my desk to make a globe-spanning Marvel board game. Really, that was the only bit of the project that was predetermined. Y’all may not realize this about me due to the games I am better known for, but I am primarily a co-op gamer. I love working together to take down a big bad—the closer the call, the better—and doing so with friends makes the victory even sweeter. Additionally, when I make games, I tend to make games that I would want to play, so I decided pretty early on that D.A.G.G.E.R. was going to be a cooperative game, and went from there.

Co-op? Check.

Boss fights? Check.

Lots of abilities flying around? Also check.

Yeah, I like splashy and flashy player abilities. I know, you’re all shocked. What can I say, there is a certain aspect of those kinds of player actions that lend themselves well to emergent narrative, in my experience, and that’s one thing I absolutely wanted this game to have. I decided pretty early on that the scripted narrative would be light or nonexistent, and that all the action would be largely driven by the players responding to various threats. Another thing I decided early on was that the game would always end in a boss fight (as noted above, I love those). Each boss—or “nemesis,” as they were named eventually—would have a series of simple missions to work through, but no matter how those missions panned out, whether in favor of the heroes or the nemesis, the game would always conclude with a final showdown. Initial tests of this showed promise, but it wasn’t until mechanics were implemented that had the nemesis walking around and doing nemesis things during the actual game rounds that I was sure it was headed in the right direction.

Speaking of player abilities, there were two things I knew I wanted: combo abilities between players and game-changing ultimate abilities. This is Marvel after all—and there is nothing more recognizably Marvel than heroes working in unison and huge, reality-shattering powers. And I felt like there was opportunity to combine these things together.

Originally, the combo powers were going to be a bit more scripted. Certain pairs of heroes had a very specific unison attack they could execute. However, that wasn’t quite doing it for me. Instead, the primed/empowered system was implemented. One hero could “prime” a target enemy, or “empower” a trusted ally, and then those statuses could be exploited by another hero to trigger their combo powers. Much better. Definitely played into my goals of emergent narrative, in any case—or is it physical comedy? Maybe it’s just me, but there is something intrinsically funny about Captain America’s shield bouncing around, marking various targets to be lightning’d into oblivion by Mighty Thor moments later.

Which leaves us with the ultimate abilities. Originally, these were going to be once per game. That felt alright, but it wasn’t quite where I wanted to see it. Instead, a different system was investigated, one more akin to filling a super gauge—but for the group. Each time players performed one of the above combo abilities, they’d get to increase that gauge, and once it was full enough, anyone could spend it to set off their ultimate ability—multiple times, if necessary! And I liked this a lot. There was one game in testing where Thor used the Bifrost to whisk me out of harm’s way six times in one game, much to the dismay of Hulk, who really just wanted to HULK SMASH his way around the world (relatable).

Another thing I really wanted to include was “class specs.” I have a particular way I like to play games, which means I tend to settle into one character or archetype that meets how I prefer to play and stick with it. But I didn’t want that to be the case here. I thought if I could separate the group roles from the characters, and players could pair them as they pleased, it might satisfy that wish. So I looked to Marvel Champions: The Card Game and snagged their Heroic Aspects for the class archetypes: Aggression (enemy fighter), Justice (mission do-er), Leadership (plan-maker), and Protection (damage mitigator)—and then also created two more in Vigilance (combo-enabler) and Determination (jack of all trades). I pulled together a list of heroes—ten at first—and was pretty happy with how it was all playing out. 60 total possible combos; you could, for example, play Iron Man as Aggression or Justice or any of the six aspects. But we saw an opportunity for more, and thus the double-sided heroes came to be. Two heroes, each of whom at various times have carried the same mantle, would be on different sides of the same sheet. Thus, if you chose Thor, you could pick either of Thor’s “specs” (i.e. Jane Foster or Thor Odinson) and then choose a further degree of specialization by picking which of the six Heroic Aspects they would represent. And just like that, there were even more combos.

Ultimately, though, I failed to keep myself from settling into one character. I play Sam Wilson with Justice. Every. Single. Time. Oh well, at least sometimes I will mix things up with Aggression or Leadership (but really it’s just because someone else picks Justice first). Anyway, that’s my favorite hero-aspect combination; what will yours be?

Well, you’ve made it this far through my rambling. I hope you all enjoy Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R. as much as I do. I am glad it’s finally going to be out in the wild. Looking forward to hearing about your games; I’m especially looking forward to hearing about how Loki teleported someone into a group of enemies, who then proceeded to one-shot them at the end of the first turn.

No, really. It could happen to you. Better look out!

The launch of Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R. is rapidly approaching! Before it hits store shelves in late June, we want to take some time today to go over what it’s like to actually play this awesome game. So sit back and enjoy this whirlwind tour of Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R.’s gameplay!

Mission Prep

The first step for setting up any game of D.A.G.G.E.R. is to choose your heroes! As a reminder, there are 20 heroes in the game, spread out across 10 double-sided hero sheets. When you choose your hero, you pick your sheet, and then choose which hero from that pair you want to start the game as. For our example game, we’ll say we have 4 players, and they collectively choose

. Your unique support starts the game facedown on its “locked” side, and you won’t be able to use it until you unlock it through your hero’s signature side mission (we’ll get to that later). For the other two support cards, choose one to start faceup, and the other to start facedown. The facedown support starts the game “exhausted,” which means it can’t be used until you charge it up (something you can do by using the “rest” action during the game).

Next, each player chooses which of the six aspects they want to use! This is an important step; since each hero can make use of each aspect differently, there are tons of combinations to try out! For our example game, Captain Marvel’s player chooses the

Each aspect comes with a number of aspect tokens that match its symbol and color. When playing a game with three or more heroes, each player takes three of these tokens (making sure that one is the “boosted” token, which we’ll talk about later). If playing a game with only two heroes (such as in a solo game or a two-player game), each hero uses four tokens instead. We’ll go over what these tokens are used for shortly.

Each aspect also comes with a colored base, which you place your hero’s standee inside.

Once the heroes are set up, you then choose which of the four nemeses you want to face. Each nemesis comes with their own character sheet, mission deck, and signature minion, as well as standees for both the nemesis and that minion. You’ll also choose an enemy set, which comes with its own “first strike” card (basically the intro mission for the game). For our example game, we’ll go with

first strike card.

There are a few more steps involved in setup—such as building the side mission deck and event deck—but we’re not going to cover all of them today. Once the game is set up, it will look something like this:

Playing the Game

The goal of Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R. is to defeat the nemesis, which can only be done during the final showdown. Gameplay takes place over two phases: the hero phase and the nemesis phase.

During the hero phase, each player takes turns performing a single action at a time (represented by spending an aspect token), cycling over and over until each player has spent all of their aspect tokens.

There are two types of aspect tokens: standard and boosted. You have multiple standard tokens to use during the round, but only one boosted token. To spend an aspect token, you place it on an empty slot on either your hero sheet, your aspect sheet, or the game board.

The Leadership player spends their boosted token to perform the “defy” action on their aspect sheet.

Some actions—such as the Leadership aspect’s “defy” action—have an extra Boosted effect, which can only be activated by spending your boosted token. Some actions are on your hero’s sheet, such as Thor’s God of Thunder ability, while others are “D.A.G.G.E.R. actions,” which are tied to bases on the game board. Anywhere you find an empty slot, chances are you can spend one of your tokens there, which means there are tons of strategic options each round!

Aspect tokens can be spent to trigger abilities on your hero sheet or the D.A.G.G.E.R. action of a base.

Several actions will have you perform a test to attack an enemy, make progress on a mission, or rest and recharge your supports. To perform a test, you roll a number of dice equal to your hero’s corresponding stat for that test, then count the number of successes. More successes means more damage dealt to the enemy, more progress placed on a mission, or more health recovered / more charge counters placed on your facedown support card(s).

In this example, the hero is performing an attack, so they roll dice equal to their ATK stat (3). The lightning bolt is a wild icon, and the other two match the ATK symbol, so this hero got 3 successes!

As we talked about in our first look at Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R. back in March, each hero has one or two combo abilities that make use of the game’s “empowered” and “primed” tokens. Triggering these abilities as often as possible is almost always a good idea, since doing so will charge the team-up track and allow you to use your powerful team-up card!

Countermeasures

Once each hero has spent all of their aspect tokens, play moves to the nemesis phase. In this phase, the nemesis and their minions carry out their heinous acts, bringing the world ever closer to a state of total despair.

The nemesis phase has three steps: Advance Threat, Check Nemesis Mission, and Resolve Event Card, in that order.

In the Advance Threat step, the threat track at the top of the board is advanced a certain amount depending on the current conditions on the board. It automatically advances by the number on the nemesis sheet (in Loki’s case, this value is 3), but it also advances by 1 for each non-nemesis enemy in play. Some side missions can also increase the amount of threat gained at this stage (we’ll talk about missions in the next section), which means the more problems you leave unsolved, the quicker things can spiral out of control. Keep in mind: if threat ever reaches 20, the heroes lose the game!

In this example, Loki’s threat value is 3, and there are 2 non-nemesis enemies in play. Thus, the threat track advances by 5 in total.

The second step of the phase, Check Nemesis Mission, is quick and easy: you check the current nemesis mission (which we’ll talk about in the next section) and see whether or not it has been completed. If there are enough progress tokens on it to meet the requirement, then it has been completed and “passed”; if not, and the current threat value is equal to or greater than the threshold, then the mission is completed and “failed.” In either case, once the mission has been completed, the threat track is reset to 0, a new side mission is spawned, and either the next nemesis mission is put into play or the final showdown begins (we’ll talk about that at the end)!

        <img src="https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/2f/d0/2fd05bc0-2914-467a-b249-487e7283507e/md01_gameplay_cards_event_preemptivestrike.png" style=""

Finally, the third step of the nemesis phase: Resolve Event Card. This step is the real meat and potatoes of the nemesis phase, as it is what determines what actions the enemies perform during the phase. To perform this step, a single event card is drawn from the deck, and all of its effects and icons are resolved, in the following order:

First, the event text is resolved. This text can either help or hinder the heroes, depending on the event in question. For example, the

      Preemptive Strike

event allows the heroes to prevent new enemies from spawning, while the

      Database Breach

event can allow enemies to close in faster than expected.

Next comes the event icons. These are the black icons on the left side of the card, and they do things like trigger “ongoing” effects, spawn additional side missions, and activate the nemesis’s abilities. These are resolved from top to bottom.

On Preemptive Strike, first all “ongoing” effects are triggered, then the nemesis’s “meteor” ability is activated.

Next, the enemies are activated in ascending order of rank, starting with “rank 1” enemies and ending with the nemesis. When an enemy activates, it either attacks a hero in its space, overruns a base in its space, or moves toward the nearest operational base in its region. Each enemy only does one of those things during each activation, and they always prioritize attacking heroes when able, which means you’ll have to be careful to not bite off more than you can chew!

Finally, the last step of resolving an event card is to spawn more enemies. This step is represented by the rank symbols, numbers, and pips at the bottom of the event card. You only spawn an enemy if the number of heroes equals or exceeds the number of circular pips under that rank symbol. The numbers simply determine which space the enemy is spawned in.

In this example, in a 4-player game, a nemesis-specific enemy would spawn on space #1, and a rank 3 enemy would spawn on space #12.

Once the event card is resolved, play returns to the hero phase, and the cycle continues until the heroes can take on the nemesis in the final showdown. Just be careful not to take too long to get to the showdown; if the event deck runs out and you need to draw a new card, the heroes lose!

Status Report

When you aren’t fighting enemies, the thing you’ll be doing the most in D.A.G.G.E.R. is completing missions. There are three main types of missions: side missions, hero missions, and nemesis missions.

Side missions come into play periodically throughout the game. They have some sort of negative effect that either triggers at some point during the round or has a persistent, ongoing effect. For example, the side mission

      Spreading Chaos

advances the threat track at the beginning of the nemesis phase, while

      Simmering Unrest

deals each hero a bit of damage whenever an event card triggers “ongoing” effects.

Each side mission also has a certain number of “progress tokens” that must be placed on it in order to complete the mission. The method in which you place progress varies depending on the mission; for example, the aforementioned Simmering Unrest mission requires you to use your “defy” action in a space that has a non-nemesis enemy, while progress is added to Spreading Chaos whenever an enemy is dealt damage. If you manage to complete a side mission, you can advance the team-up track as a reward, but take care not to let too many missions build up at once, or else the threat of the nemesis will start to accelerate!

        <img src="https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/b8/14/b81405fa-eb57-482e-bf01-6260dfea4ea6/md01_gameplay_cards_mission_proofofworth.png" style=""

As we mentioned earlier, each individual hero has their own hero mission. Whenever you perform a D.A.G.G.E.R. action at a base, you can choose to put your hero’s mission into play (so long as no other hero’s mission is already in play). Like side missions, each hero mission has its own method of being completed, and the reward you get for completing them is unlocking your hero-specific support card. However, there is some risk involved in pursuing a hero mission, as they come with an effect that specifically hinders your hero! For example, Thor’s hero mission,

Finally, there are the nemesis missions. Each nemesis has exactly three of these, and they are faced in a specific order. Once you’ve cleared the first strike mission (which we mentioned earlier in this article), you’ll gain access to the first of the nemesis’s missions. These function a little differently than other missions; your goal is still to complete them, but if your team takes too long to do so, you can actually fail the mission and have it result in a worse situation later in the game. For example, Loki’s first mission,

      <a id="10D8F" href="https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/15/f3/15f37985-4070-4d4f-a3e0-2f33197501f6/md01_gameplay_cards_mission_windsofjotunheim.png" data-colorbox-rel="ffg-lightbox"

        };
        $('#10D8F').colorbox(opts);
      });

, requires the heroes to place 3 per player progress tokens on it in order to complete the mission. Doing so will result in the “

        };
        $('#B721').colorbox(opts);
      });

” outcome and strengthening Loki for the final battle.

Once all three of the nemesis missions have been completed—either in success or failure—the final showdown begins!

The Final Showdown

Just as its name suggests, the final showdown is the ultimate battle against the nemesis to determine the fate of the world. The only way to win a game of Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R. is to defeat the nemesis during the final showdown, so if there’s ever a time to bring your A-game, this is it!

When the final showdown begins, the nemesis’s sheet is flipped over to its final showdown side. This changes how the nemesis behaves during the nemesis phase and grants the nemesis an amount of health that scales to the number of heroes. Once your team deals enough damage to reduce the nemesis’s health to 0, you win! But beware; the nemesis isn’t going to pull any punches either.

As we touched on in the last section, successfully completing nemesis missions can help make the final showdown a little easier for the heroes. This often comes in the form of suppression tokens, which can nerf the nemesis’s abilities depending on how many tokens you place on them. Of course, the reverse is also true; each nemesis mission you fail grants the nemesis an additional ability during the final showdown, so make sure you take these tasks seriously!

Mission Complete

With that, you should now have a general grasp of how Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R. is played. There’s a lot of strategy and a lot of teamwork involved when playing this game, with countless combos and synergies for you and your friends to discover. Be sure to try it out for yourself when Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R. hits store shelves at the end of June!

Mission start.

Earth is in danger. Nefarious forces threaten the world as we know it, and only a small team of heroes can come to its rescue. With the enemy’s minions closing in and innocents in peril, those heroes must work together to stop the villain’s plans and save the world. But can they do it in time?

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to present Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R., a brand-new cooperative board game featuring iconic heroes and villains from Marvel comics!

In this game for one to five players, you’ll jump into the role of one of 20 heroes and race across the globe to complete missions, battle enemies, and square off for the final showdown against the nemesis. Wield the power of different heroic aspects to match your ideal playstyle, then pull off strategic combos with your fellow heroes and wait for the perfect moment to unleash your ultimate ability. Team up with your allies and take on global threats from some of Marvel’s most dangerous villains!

Assembling the Team

In this game, “D.A.G.G.E.R.” stands for “Defense Alliance for Global and Galactic Emergency Response,” and the “Alliance” and “Emergency Response” parts are the driving force behind how the game is played. The focus of the game is on using teamwork with your fellow heroes to resolve crises around the world and strengthen yourselves in time to take on the nemesis.

And what’s the best way to work together in a game like this? One word: combos!

The team-up track and combo tokens.

There are two types of combo tokens: empowered tokens and primed tokens. When a hero becomes “empowered,” they can later discard their empowered token to add one success to any attribute test they perform (spoiler alert: you’ll be performing a lot of those tests). When an enemy is “primed,” a hero attacking that enemy can remove a primed token from them to add one success to the attack result (which means more damage dealt).

Not bad, right? But those are just the most basic uses for these tokens, and it turns out the heroes can do a lot more!

Each hero has at least one “combo ability” that requires either an empowered token on themself or a primed token on an enemy to trigger. Triggering these combo abilities comes with an extra benefit: advancing the team-up track. The team-up track is a resource shared by all heroes and is used to pay for “team-up abilities,” the strongest abilities in each hero’s arsenal (more on those later).

These are just 6 of the 20 heroes you can choose from.

Speaking of heroes, there are 20 to choose from, split into 10 pairs represented by double-sided hero sheets. Each hero in a pair has similar powers and/or deep ties to one another, but even if their powers are similar, their playstyles can be very different!

                             class=" product-feature" />

For example, the hero

      Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff)

has several tactical abilities that can greatly accelerate the heroes’ action economy. Her Quinjet ability lets any hero move three spaces, and her Martial Mastery combo ability lets her benefit from a primed token on an enemy while leaving that enemy primed for another hero afterwards. Meanwhile,

      Black Widow (Yelena Belova)

focuses more on offense. Her Ambush ability lets her use her “defiance” stat to fight instead of her attack power and grants her bonus dice under certain conditions, while the Counterattack combo ability lets her deal heavy damage in response to a primed enemy attacking her. Both heroes use the name “Black Widow,” but each of them operates in a very different way!

        <img src="https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/25/0e/250e2eaa-c200-4014-a80b-f34c1f47f1e3/md01_sheets_hero_daredevil.png" style="width: 350px;"

In a similar vein, we have the heroes

        $('#13CC1').colorbox(opts);
      });

. While they do not share a hero name, they are nevertheless a closely related pair, and yet once again they play differently from one another. Daredevil is a specialist that focuses on control and response, using his Sentinel ability to intercept enemies and utilizing the combo ability Acute Senses to ensure he succeeds in critical moments. Meanwhile, Elektra functions as a self-sufficient damage dealer who can empower herself with Instinct and use her two combo abilities, Mind Games and Manipulate, to get enemies to damage themselves and each other.

If the heroes have such different playstyles from each other, then why are they in pairs? The answer to that is twofold: strategy and support! Each hero begins the game with two support cards unlocked, which they share with their “partner hero” on the other side of their sheet. For example, both

supports in play. How each Spider-Man uses these supports will vary depending on which one you’re playing as, but you’ll always have them whenever you play a Spider-Man.

That said, each hero also has a unique support specific to them that must be unlocked during the game. These unique supports can normally only be used when playing their associated hero; this means that only Spider-Man (Peter Parker) can use the

Before we move on from heroes, there is one more thing that we should cover. Remember those team-up abilities we mentioned earlier? These take the form of a special card that, similar to the non-unique supports, is shared by both heroes in a pair. You gain access to your team-up ability by spending enough charges from the team-up track to flip it to its “active” side. When you’re ready to use it, you can “exhaust” the card (flip it back to its inactive side) to trigger its effect. As we said before, the team-up abilities are powerful effects that can alter the course of the whole game; for example, the Spider-Man team-up ability

      Into the Multiverse

allows any hero to instantly gain the unique support belonging to their partner hero (something you normally can’t do), without the need to unlock it first!

Aspects of Heroism

The heroes provide plenty of strategic depth all on their own, but there is another choice you must make when deciding who you want to play as: the choice of heroic aspect.

There are six aspects to choose from, and each gives you access to the same basic actions: move, fight, defy, and rest. We won’t go into detail about the ins and outs of actions today, but you will notice that each aspect has certain benefits for certain actions. For example, the

      Aggression

aspect allows you to deal a bit of damage after moving, and it also strengthens your fight actions (obviously) by giving you additional successes.

Meanwhile, the

      Determination

aspect focuses on succeeding in the face of overwhelming odds. Your fight and defy actions can be boosted to roll additional dice, and you can even reroll dice to increase your chances of succeeding a crucial test.

Each aspect has a different focus, and that focus can shape your playstyle almost as much as your chosen hero. With 20 heroes and six aspects, that’s 120 different combinations to experiment with, which means you’ll have lots to come back to after your first game!

A Global Threat

With all these tools at their disposal, the heroes in Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R. must be up against some truly challenging threats, right? Enter: the nemesis.

Just like how you and your fellow heroes will be racing around the globe to solve crises (called “missions” in-game), the nemesis will be traveling around the world to cause them! And while you can attack the nemesis at any time, you can’t actually stop them until the final showdown. The best you can do until then is stall them and stop them from achieving their goals.

Each nemesis has different ways to cause trouble for the heroes. For example,

      Loki Laufeyson

can trick heroes out of their empowered status and ambush them with

      Illusory Foes

. Each nemesis has their own signature minion (Loki’s being the aforementioned Illusory Foe), but they’ll also be accompanied by a group of enemies that can vary from game to game. Having Loki team up with
