Hall of Honor

The most elite Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game players commit themselves to claiming greatness! Those who face the challenge and succeed for the glory of their clan earn the greatest honor bestowed upon any player: the esteemed title of Hatamoto. This promotion brings incredible prizes, exclusive benefits, and recognition at Kotei Series events and in this hallowed Hall of Honor!

Each Hatamoto becomes a known representative of their clan, and must commit to representing them at any Kotei Series events while they hold this esteemed position. The price for betraying one's clan is steep: forfeiture of their Hatamoto title should one choose to represent another clan. The community's respect for a Hatamoto's accomplishments is shown at each Kotei Series event. Their wins and losses directly contribute to their clan's standing in the yearly competition for the Emperor's Favor!

The great history of Rokugan notes memorable achievements, but those who rest on their laurels will pass into memory. Hatamotos retain their title until two Winter Court World Championships have passed since promotion. These elite players must continually remind the denizens of Rokugan of their greatness and earn the position of Hatamoto again to retain it year after year!

You can join these elite ranks and eternalize your achievements. Accept the challenge, compete at a Kotei Series event, and become a recognized Hatamoto for your clan! Read on below for more about how the title of Hatamoto is awarded and the prizes that await those who earn this esteemed position. You can even view the gallery of your clan's Hatamotos, and aspire to the greatness that they have realized!

Prizes

Hatamotos receive exclusive and extraordinary prizes when they earn this elite position!

  • The newly promoted player receives the Hatamoto pin, to be worn as a sigil of their position.
  • In addition, they receive a Hatamoto playmat featuring their clan mon, which will serve as the surface for their skillful play in future events.
  • The new Hatamoto will have the ability to purchase a reserved seat for the next Winter Court World Championships.
  • If a Hatamoto has previously earned or refreshed their title since the last Winter Court World Championship, instead of receiving a duplicate playmat, they receive a coveted prize to recognize their additional achievement: the engraved Hatamoto token box!

When a previously promoted Hatamoto attends a Kotei Series event, or Winter Court, their greatness will be recognized by everyone in attendance!

  • Hatamotos are introduced by name and clan to all players at the start of each Kotei Series main event.
  • A special Hatamoto gathering point is designated for these honored guests during the event.

Facing a Hatamoto is an honor, and defeating one of these elite players is an incredible feat.

  • Any player who defeats a Hatamoto during the initial Swiss rounds of a Kotei Series main event will earn a commemorative triumph pin to celebrate their victory over such a formidable foe!
  • Each time a Hatamoto attends a Kotei Series event, they will be gifted a ceremonial triumph pin to return home with. They may announce at the beginning of any local event that the first player to defeat them in battle will win that triumph pin, or even arrange a special event to that effect!

Last, but certainly not least, each victory or loss for a previously named Hatamoto at each Kotei Series event is critical for their clan!

  • A Hatamoto's performance record directly impacts their clan's standing in the yearly competition for the Emperor's Favor.
