"The blood of my enemies I will shed gladly. The blood of innocents is another matter."
- Daenerys Targaryen, A Song of Ice and Fire, Volume III: A Storm of Swords
There is a fire in the East burning under the three-headed dragon banner of House Targaryen. The lost queen is coming to claim her birthright...
Queen of Dragons is the fifth large expansion for A Game of Thrones: The Card Game , featuring 165 cards new to the LCG® card pool - three copies each of 55 unique cards - that add deck-building opportunities and strategic depth to your game.
The cards included in
Queen of Dragons
deepen the existing strengths of House Targaryen, as well as adding some new avenues of strategy to explore. At the core of
Queen of Dragons
are the iconic symbols of House Targaryen itself, the three dragons Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion. Individually, they are merely powerful. All together, they have the strength to destroy nations. In-game, their varied abilities trigger off of challenges in which
Dragons
are the only participants. This may seem limiting, but given the synergy built around the
Dragon
trait in this expansion, leaving your challenges to the
Dragons
is no limitation at all.
Fire and Blood
Included with the Queen of Dragons expansion are two decklists, created with the aid of 2009 Melee World Champion Jonathan Benton and other devoted AGoT fans, that you can use as jumping off points to delve into House Targaryen's various strengths, or, if you are a new player, a starting place to explore the art of customizing a deck in general.
These decks can be constructed using only the contents of one A Game of Thrones Core Set and one copy of Queen of Dragons . Below is the one of the two decklists included with Queen of Dragons. The first deck, "Fire and Blood", is a showcase of what the dragons unleashed can do.

In essence, this deck is an exploration of House Targaryen's approach to the "power rush" strategy. Through the Heir to the Iron Throne agenda, you can execute an additional power challenge each round. With the help of Daenerys Targaryen, your Dragons do not kneel to attack and you therefore have more opportunities to take your opponents' power. Through Rhaegal's ability to claim additional power in challenges for all Dragons , as well as through the character and location control granted by Drogon and Viserion's abilities, you can easily overwhelm your opponents with your Dragons' magnified power.
Host of the True Queen
The second decklist included with this expansion, "Host of the True Queen", focuses on the House Targaryen's Armies , recruited from the ranks of mercenaries, former slaves, Unsullied, and others of the mysterious East that are called to follow Daenerys Targaryen's banner.
Each of the Great Houses has within it traits that act as factions within factions, focusing on a particular strength of that House. There are several traits that cross all Houses, among them
Ally
,
Knight
,
Maester
, and
Army
. While each House has its
Armies
, those included with
Queen of Dragons
, as well attendant support and plot cards, will bring new military might to House Targaryen.
From the commentary included with this deck:
"From the grasslands of the Dothraki Sea to the walls of Qarth, Meereen, and Yunkai, collect your armies and sweep across the land laying waste to your enemies.
Muster the Realm
is a great opening plot to give yourself time and resources to build your armies.
High Ground
and
Plaza of Pride
ensure you get maximum value out of each army, while the
Pike Phalanxes
put the pressure on your opponents by raising the claim on your military challenges, especially during the rounds you play
Mutual Cause
and
Power of Arms
."
Through
Queen of Dragons
you can recreate the epic battles and power struggles depicted in George R.R. Martin's thrilling fantasy series,
A Song of Ice and Fire
, and take command! Under your leadership, you can lead the disparate factions of the True Queen's armies against the other Great Houses and reclaim the Iron Throne for its lost heir. With the help of the cards introduced in
Queen of Dragons
, the second conquest of the House of the Dragon can begin!
