Double Time , the sixth and final Data Pack in the Spin Cycle for Android: Netrunner , is now available at retailers and online through our webstore . As its sixty new cards (three copies each of twenty individual cards) lend further drama to the game’s cyberstruggles, they also conclude the cycle’s focus on trace attempts, bad publicity, and Double events and operations. In fact, you’ll find a significant focus on these cards, as they represent roughly one-third of the Data Pack.
Doubling Down
Like Reclamation Order ( Double Time , 111), each Double event and operation requires that its owner pay an extra click to play the card, in addition to its other costs. Because Android: Netrunner is a game in which you must carefully manage the economy of your actions each turn, Double events and operations can be particularly tricky to use correctly.
So, when each Double event consumes one-half of a Runner’s turn and each Double operation consumes two-thirds of a Corp’s base actions, how can you justify utilizing these cards? First of all, their rewards are potent.

, 102), for example, allows the Runner to spend two clicks to generate six credits out of thin air.
Then, there are ways to mitigate their costs and enhance their benefits. You want to play them at the correct stages of the game. Played at the right time, these cards can fit perfectly into your strategies. Celebrity Gift ( Opening Moves , 12) works wonders when you have a hand full of cards that you’d like to show the Runner. Played at the wrong time, they may lead you down the path to ruin.
Moreover, you can promote the synergies these cards add to your decks. With support from cards like Starlight Crusade Funding ( True Colors , 69) and Power Nap ( Double Time , 107), the Runner can easily devise a strategy based around Double events. Likewise, a Corp like Jinteki can easily find ways to use Doubles like Celebrity Gift to manipulate the Runner straight into its deadliest traps.

In Chaos Theory’s deck, the wünderkind spends most of her influence on Lucky Find and Hostage, using the events to establish her economy and base of connections. Since her deck features no fewer than twelve Doubles, Starlight Crusade Funding appears as a resource she can use to reduce the cost of her Doubles early, and then she can pawn off her funding once her rig is fully up and running. And about that rig?

, 47), Motivation, and Eureka! Then, once it’s assembled, Chaos Theory’s rig is no longer one of the most expensive that you’ll find; it’s simply one of the most efficient.
- Meanwhile, Jinteki is up to its old tricks, running a deadly shell game with an abundance of traps and hostile assets. Still, even though the nature of Jinteki’s larger strategy may appear familiar, Celebrity Gift raises the Corp’s ability to bluff and bait the Runner, ensuring that any player managing the deck will never fail for a lack of available mind games. The deck distinctly avoids a wealth of ice that end runs in favor of those that deal net damage because it relies upon the abilities of detective Caprice Nisei, NAPD Contact, and Fetal AI ( Trace Amount , 32) to force the Runner to pay in order to score agendas. Then, if Jinteki catches the Runner short on funds after a Runner, it can call in some help from Weyland Corporation’s Black Ops division to win the game with Punitive Counterstrike.
