From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
-The Fellowship of the Ring

The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is on tabletops all over the world, and we at FFG are hard at work to produce the second printing of this phenomenally successful release. Even as thousands of players enjoy the unique solo and cooperative questing experience of the Core Set, additional challenges and deck-building options will soon arrive in its upcoming first Adventure Pack, The Hunt for Gollum .

In this much-anticipated debut of the Shadows of Mirkwood cycle, Gollum has carelessly left a trail of clues in his wake, and Gandalf has commanded you and your companions to follow them and discover where the creature has disappeared to. Can you track his whereabouts before succumbing Mordor’s Hunters or being robbed blind by Goblintown Scavengers?

Today, we’re pleased to offer a sneak peek at two of the cards coming your way in The Hunt for Gollum .

Inspirational songs

Each sphere of influence offers its own distinct advantages, but when a player can successfully blend the advantages of multiple spheres into a single deck, remarkable synergies emerge. One such powerful combination is the Leadership/Lore deck, which combines the Ally recruitment of Leadership with the card draw and healing abilities of Lore.

For example, a Hero like Glóin has a built-in means of quickly amassing resources, which he should probably use to summon an army of Allies. In turn, Beravor ’s ability can help fill your hand with cards, producing more Ally cards to put into play. Finally, you might add Glorfindel , who can work to keep Glóin and his newly summoned Allies alive. This is simple enough, but what upcoming cards will help you further capitalize on the Leadership/Lore synergy?

Enter the Songs . This new trait, found on attachments, represents a tune that often conveys some benefit to the attached character. Song of Kings gives such a character a Leadership icon, helpful for bringing even more Allies into play. But how can you be sure you’ll draw Song of Kings in the first place? Luckily, Elrond’s Rivendell Minstrels do requests. Let their honey-sweet voices deliver it to your hand.

The evasive Gollum continues to elude you, and it will take teamwork, tenacity, and luck to hold his trail. Keep checking back for more on The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game !
